Playing tips

You start out with a very low chance to hit, so go after easy targets like Fallen until you gain a couple levels. Please note even the weakest monsters have a twice higher level than you, and this level difference make it very difficult to hit monsters. Attack Rating would be given the highest priority.

Don't be afraid to stick the socketables you find into a weapon or piece of armor...you can take them out anytime you want by putting the socketed item in your Horadric Cube together with a key. Nothing is destroyed, you get your gems, jewels, or runes back, as well as the item they were in.

DRAGON STONE MINING: you can find Dragon Stones in the Halls of the Dead lvl 2by killing the boss who guards the magic stash. (norm: 50% chance to drop, nightmare: 70% chance to drop, hell: 100% chance to drop).

Every character class can benefit from a javelin/shield combo early on. This gives you the benefit of ranged combat (thrown), or melee combat with the additional defense of a shield. Also, cubing any javelin/throwing/quiver by itself, resets the quantity to 255. Useful to remember if you are out in the wilderness and you get the low quantity warning.

Gathering CASH: find a secret recipe #14 (secret recipe #14), find 2 Dragon Stones and create a perf gem, then store it into Gem Can (available to buy at Gheed), take out several Flawless gem and sell them for some money.

Gems are available at Akara, just buy several chipped gems and insert it into socket belt, armor, cap etc. You will get a simple gemword “poisonus” with % chance to cast poison nova. Works very well in 1a :)

Set and unique items are able to gamble! The first set useful to wear is an Autolycus set (req lvl = 3). Try to gather some cash and gamble “boots”, “light belt” and “quilted armor”. If you gamble an Hsarus boots, just cube them with thawing potion – it will convert your boots into Autolycus ones!

Repair/Recharge cost is very low in ES. You no longer have to worry about the recharge cost. Superior Runeworded items will never bankrupt you.

Other mercenaries than Act 2 mercenaries are also useful. All mercenaries have useful support skill(s) like an aura, warcries, etc.

Damage Augmenter is a free bonus charm included in the starting items. All characters have one once they are created. Please re-equip it once a time to update damage bonus.
